Meet Nikki Wetzel
Hi, I’m Nikki Wetzel—a certified educator with over 25 years of teaching experience and a deep passion for helping children learn to read. I hold endorsements in reading and am a certified reading specialist, with 19 years of experience in this specialized role.
Before becoming a reading specialist, I taught Kindergarten, 2nd, and 3rd grade classrooms, building a strong foundation in early childhood and elementary education. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a focus on Child Development and a minor in American History from the University of Washington. I earned my teaching credentials from Western Washington University and went on to complete my Master’s in Reading and Literacy at Walden University.
I specialize in working with children who have dyslexia or struggle with reading. My approach is individualized, research-based, and grounded in the belief that every child can learn to read—we just need to discover the right techniques for each learner.
I’m always learning new strategies and approaches to keep instruction effective, engaging, and empowering. Teaching literacy is not just my profession—it’s my passion.
